Instructions for writing control modules?

I have another thread asking if anyone has made a control file for the Astak Mole. Last night, while pondering that and a Foscam module I found on these forums, I realized I should just whip up my own module. I looked around and I can't really find any documentation on how ZoneMinder uses control perl modules. Does anyone have that?
