Reusing an old Windows "GeoVision" Card

Post by cheebs »

Hi,

I need some help setting up a card for video surveillance.
I am new to Linux and am currently running Ubuntu 10.4 on kernel 2.6.32(?).

I have followed some guides on how to set up the GeoVision cards, however I am starting to doubt the card is a true "GeoVision" GV800 card.

My lspci:
05:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
06:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
06:04.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
06:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
06:0c.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)

This is a post I have found and tried to follow Neppon's post:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=w ... ZA&cad=rja

I have a different card id to Neppon's in that his is 763d and mine is c84e.
06:0c.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
Subsystem: Device 32dd:c84e
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 17
Memory at f8ff8000 (32-bit, prefetchable)
Capabilities: <access>
Kernel driver in use: bttv
Kernel modules: bttv

That being said I've tried to follow through, as I don't know how to look through kernels for card numbers.

I am also unsure on how to insert bttv.conf.
I have done a search but can't find the config file and sure I have missed a step in the installation.
Where do I find this file?

Would someone be able to point me to some guides on how to install bttv? Or better yet help me config?
