Viewing of Images on Firefox quit

I have no problem seeing the recorded events and looking at the images there, either manually on disk or through the Events > Even-.... > stills , but montage and cycle fail to display the images. Events do get stored on disk.
Also, there is no fps number on any camera - 11 active cameras
Running under openSUSE 11.3 with ZM 1.24.2 - 3 core AMD with 4G RAM and 500G of event storage space that is about 50% used.
Cambozola not installed and turned off. Ffmpeg installed and turned on, but jpeg images selected.
The system worked well for a couple of months before this, and I don't recall making any changes at the time it happened.
