i'm using zm 1.24.2 and I have the problem that in case of an alarm state only 5-8 seconds are recorded. Then a new event is created.

For example
1446 Event-1446 Monitor-1 Motion 04/01 12:10:07 6.65 106 31 163 5 8
1447 Event-1447 Monitor-1 Motion 04/01 12:10:14 5.63 90 15 65 4 5

Here a person walks in front of the camera. There is full motion going on all the time. But the recording is split into 2 events.

Monitor settings are:
Image Buffer Size (frames) 100
Warmup Frames 25
Pre Event Image Count 25
Post Event Image Count 50
Stream Replay Image Buffer 1000
Alarm Frame Count 1

Event Prefix Event-
Section length 1200
Frame Skip 0
FPS Report Interval 1000
Default View events
Default Rate real
Default Scale actual
Web Colour red

I tried to play around with the section length, but I think this is not the
thing I should change.

How can I get ZM to keep recording until there is no motion detected?

Actually ZM is recording motion based on the zone sensitivity settings. If you were to look at the analysis frames ZM is not seeing motion even though you see it. You can change the zone sensitivity (whether blobs or alarmed pixels) but this usually leads to more false alarms based on lighting and background movement. I choose to increase the "Post Event Image Count" to a value of 12 to 13 seconds, this way minor movements are ignored and major movement will re-alarm and continue recording. The real trick is to use both and experiment.

please forgive me for taking so long to reply.

Now I took a closer look at the event frames. One mistake I made was to have too much "warm up" time.
I've reduced this now to 0 seconds.

If a view the events frame by frame, then the recording includes all the actions that happen.
If I play back the event the system plays only part of the recording. There is more recording time available
but I've not found out how to configure the system to play back all the movie time (pre action, action, post-action).
I am not sure if you can understand what my problem is.
So I'll provide an example.

The first 25 frames don't have any "score" due to my "warm up" time mistake.

If I play back the event the movie plays from frame 1 to about frame 46/47 then
loops again.
Why does it not play all 114 frames?

A search of the forums shows others have had this issue and resolved it by adjusting buffer values or increasing shared memory values, an example:

THANK YOU, three days of trying to sort out this problem and this was the solution.

I used the search term "Stream Replay Image Buffer" and found too many links to post here. There seems not to be any "one bullet" fix so you'll need to weed through them.

Warm up frames only only occur when ZM first gets a stream, in your case, the first 25 frames when the camera is turned on or when a source value is changed and saved (this why I caution on being patient when making changes, need to give the system time to process through). This value has no effect after that.

I am missing frames during playback of recorded events. Image Buffer Size and Pre Event Image
only effect future events as far as I know.

I think the changes need to be done in the "Images" settings in the options menu.
Played around with the values, but did not get a better results.

You are right here. The change of this valued did not make any difference.

I think I'll leave it like it is.

But at one time your recorded event was a future event, trust me these settings affect your end result.

What I do is keep on recording for longer since it has triggered the alarm so I avoid having many events.

If the camera captures at 20 fps and want to record 60 seconds more after shot, we put 20 fps * 60 sec. = 1200

Post Event Image Count 1200

Taking into consideration frame rates, adjusting the post image event count, as indicated above, made a big difference in reducing multiple small events... I'm sure there's some reduction in efficiency and increased storage space, but it does seem to make a difference. FWIW.. for those who are trying to tune their event capture settings..
