What are some cheap high resolution IP cameras?

Post by theforce »

Just wondering if anyone has found a good cheap high resolution IP camera that works with zoneminder.

I know good and cheap don't go together but I'm just wondering what people have found.

I'm looking for something 640x480 or higher that has a nice crisp image.

I found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

I went ahead and bought it just to see what it can do. I'll report back when I test it.

Has anyone found any good deals?

BTW, High res is normally over a megapixel. 640x is vga and base spec for ip cams :)

I have two of these running of POE splitters. THey are reliable and give reasonable picture. FPS is around 10, they work fine with zm and are by far the cheapest ip cams I've got to work with zm at 50usd each.

That looks like a decent camera. I'm actually looking for something to mount outside. 640x480 resolution is high res for me since I'm using some crappy 320x240 B&W x-10 cameras. I really want something better.

Anyone found any deals on 1MP cameras that are less than $500?

The camera I bought off ebay is one of those cheap foscam knock offs. The quality is not all that sharp like from a still camera but still much better than my crappy x-10 cameras. I would say its just as good as the one on dealextreme from what I have seen. Unless I can find a better cheaper camera I think I will order some more. I think I might have to upgrade my computer while I'm at it. I'm currently running 9 cameras ( including the new IP camera ) and want to run about 10-15 IP cameras. My current AthlonXP 64bit 3200+ system is running at about a 2+ cpu load on average right now with 7 of the cameras coming from an 8 port card, 1 camera coming from a remote zoneminder box, and the new foscam knockoff running at 640x480.

According to my opinion, CCTV is the best choice for high resolution and cheap price. Many different types of CCTV systems available-analog and digital, wired and wireless-and their modes of operation vary; however, the basic components are more or less the same: a camera, a lens, a monitor, and (for wired systems) cables that carry the signal from one place to another.
