Playback speed for event viewer screen

Post by SpareTimeGizmos »

There doesn't seem to be any way to control the playback speed (e.g. real, 10x, 50x, etc) in the event viewer - is that right? It also seems like the playback speed for an event is set when the event is captured, and you can't change it after the fact. Is that right too?

I have a camera that's set to record 1 frame every 10 seconds for 8 hours at a time. It's also linked to another camera so that when camera 2 alarms, the first camera starts recording at its best frame rate for 30 seconds and then goes back to time lapse mode. That actually works, but...

When you playback the "continuous" events, the viewer defaults to real time so it takes 8 hours to play back the 8 hour capture. Not really what you want... Fine - I can go to the monitor setup and change the default rate (on the "Misc" tab) to, say, 50x.

Problem - this only seems to affect new events; events that are already recorded still play at the previous rate.

Problem - new continuous events now play at 50x. Perfect... But now linked (alarm) events also play at 50x! And you can't change them to play in real time! Still not really what you'd want...

If there was a way to change the playback speed in the event viewer that'd help, but there doesn't seem to be a way.

What'd be even better would be a way to associate a different default playback rate with timelapse/continuous events and real time/alarm events, but there doesn't seem the be a way to do that either.

Is there a better way?

Thanks,
