Problems combining continuous recording with alarms

Post by SpareTimeGizmos »

I have a camera that's sent to capture 1 frame every 10 seconds for eight hours at a time in continuous recording mode. That works great by itself, but I'd also like to link this camera to another one so that when the second camera alarms the first one records at its best rate for, say, 30 seconds, and then goes back to time lapse recording.

That works, kind of, but I'm having some problems.
  • There's no way to set a reasonable rate for the playback - I made a separate post about this.
  • Whenever an alarm occurs, a zero length, zero frame, null event gets generated. That's not a show stopper, but it seems like a bug
  • WHenever an alarm occurs, the continous recording gets chopped up into separate events, which makes it hard or impossible to later playback the time lapse recording. It seems like ZM should just keep the continous event going independently of the alarm event, and record both.
Maybe I'm going about doing this wrong, but it seems like it'd be a fairly common thing to combine time lapse with alarms. Is there a better way to do it?

Thanks!
