Hey guys, I tried searching for the answer to this, but unfortunately searching the forums for "zoneminder" and "remote", trips the 'too common words' thing, so I couldn't efficiently search for an answer to this.
Is it possible to have a camera source on a Zoneminder config be coming from another Zoneminder install? Here's my example:
Server A, B and C are at different physical locations, with physically attached analog cameras. I want to have a single interface to display all cameras, so I set up Server X, and for its' camera sources, I want to have it attach to the feeds on Servers A B and C, condensing all camera feeds into one "front end".
I tried doing this by adding a remote camera on my "front end", but was unable to get the syntax correct to produce an image, or maybe it's just not possible.
Is this possible, and/or is there a better way to do this?
Thanks!
Zoneminder to Zoneminder remote camera?
Re: Zoneminder to Zoneminder remote camera?
Yes, I'm doing it!
On the remote machine, bring up the live view monitor.
Right-click the image (in ff anyway) and copy the image address.
Enter /that/ url into a new monitor on the remote machine, along with x and y and using 'remote' style.
It should appear as a normal stream.

What kinda bandwidth does this require?
Re: Zoneminder to Zoneminder remote camera?
Same as any other jpg. Jpg filesize X fps (plus about 5% overhead) = bytes per second.
It does add some server load to the streaming server of course.
