So I installed ZM without a hitch but for some reason can not get my webcam to work through a local source type at all. But I was able to setup 'Motion' first and then within ZM create a new monitor preset of 'Axis IP 320x240, JPEG' with source as remote on 127.0.0.1 port 8081 and image colours 24 bit bit colour, http protocol, no remote host path and method as simple.
I'd love to bypass Motion all together and just have ZM as my camera monitoring system. Would anyone know what might be happening?
When I do try and setup a new source manually I have tried the device path as both /dev/video<?> with device channel on both 0 and 8 and without the <?> prefix (I've been told 8 is meant to be USB Cameras) I have also tried both under Linux version 2 and 1 to no avail. I have also given PAL and NTSC a whirl as with YUYV, JPEG and RGB24.
OS: Ubuntu 11.04
Video: /dev/video0
Camera: Logitech Quick (something) AF Sphere
Help would be greatly appreciated

Re: ZoneMinder on Ubuntu 11.04
I have Ubuntu 11.04 64 bits with several USB Webcams and a Logitech Portable Webcam C905 that works very fine.
If you have only one USB webcam the good device is /dev/video0
The channel is always 0.
The definition is 320X240 and the palette PAL and YVUV
Best Regards
Eric
