Kubuntu 10.04LTS 64-bit performance, zoneminder 1.24.4

hello all,
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 10.04LTS 64-bit on a
Supermicro Core2quad mobo, with 4 gigs of Ram, 5X PCI slots, 1x PCIE16X, 1 PCIE4x
LSI RAID-5 array (the model number escapes me at the moment?) on a PCIE 4X port (ergo, plenty of bandwidth)
2x IVC-200G video capture cards
2X TDM-400 digium asterisk analog cards (2x FXS, 6x FXO)
and a EVGA Nvidia 9800GT PCIE 16x video card
1x USB port for an insteon 2413U, and 1x RS-232 port for a DSC power-832 alarm system
Anyway, i specifically chose parts for this home server to glue all the disparate home automation functions together.
So, i followed the wiki and installed Kubuntu 10.04LTS 64-bit, and have really poor performance with both my iphone/ipad viewing live video via an "fyshh" app for security cameras, or via firefox montage over the network. (the network is a all cisco enterprise gear, so also not an issue)
compared to my previous install on the same hardware, but with Kubuntu desktop 9.10 64-bit...
So? what is the issue? i will post the install instructions i followed, with my own fixes: IE. in the wiki, it does not mention installing "apt-get instal php5-mysql" pkg for the mentioned OS, in order to get apache2 and webmin to properly parse the php page.
additionally, someone needs to edit the instructions to install 1.24.4...
thank you for any and all help...
jeremy
