Yup broke the cardinal rule. Had a system I put together a couple of years ago using PCLinuxOS and ZM 1.23.x
Install was soooooo easy. Only had two (2) cameras, an Axis 211A and a cheap analog with a Pv-143 card. Perfect, flawless, had it tweaked to perfection. Well, I got an itch and decided, wow, they've released a few new releases, probably should upgrade. What could go wrong. Ha. Let the nightmare begin.
PCLinuxOS 2011 no longer had ZM in its repositories. So decided to go with Ubuntu 11.04 since it appeared it had pretty good support on ZM's Forums. Hah!
Install was pretty simple, but only pkg in repository was 1.24.2.
Installed- problem 1) IP camera no problem, but no analog monitor. Have read 100's of threads-still no monitor from Pv143. Ok. Blow by that issue to resolve later. Go to set up motion detection zones. No can do. Only one zone available and can't adjust it. Went digging again and did find the resolution (thanks to those that posted the resolution and a message from a PM contact) Now zones work, have set three-but now they all record for 600 seconds-never ever recall having to adjust that, and have looked for it. By now, I've invested a week or two on this debacle, so back to square one-re-install the old system.
Yeah yeah, I've read the "Before you post" rant about being lazy, NOT, and asking the right questions, yadda, yadda, yadda, but from here out I guess I better bite my tongue. Yeah I know its free and a lot of work has gone into it from a lot of dedicated people. My heart goes out to them. My heart also goes out to those, like me, that have a different profession outside the computer world, but are fascinated with the work others do to make these machines work, and greatly appreciate the tremendous efforts. And yes, I know, it's free. But you know what? I'd be willing to pay for a good solid program that I didn't have to tinker with-I did. I even bought eyeZM. Now that thing was as smooth as Kentucky Bourban, and it worked!
So, remember, if you have a working system, don't fix it. Probably like Microsoft, better let it be released a few times before you upgrade.
WARNING!!!! If it ain't broke - don't fix it!

Thanks for all the Help.

It would have been easier just to by another hard drive and let that be the guiny pig, instead of your zoneminder one.
