ZM 1.24 on Xubuntu 8.04 locks up regularly.

I have ZM 1.24 set up on Xubuntu 8.04 (set up with the Bluecherry Live CD).
I had it set on another box & I noticed that it used a lot of RAM. When it would reach the maximum, it would freeze up and become unusable until I restarted apache. I swapped the HDD & recording card to a new box with 3GB of Ram. However, I have the same problem. There is a memory leak, but it just locks up at about 1.5 GB usage.
Has anyone had this issue? Is there a fix for it?
