Hi,
I'm running ZM 1.24 on Ubuntu, with a single Foscam FI8904W camera over WiFi. It maintains a solid framerate of about 14-15fps, which seems to be fairly good.
The problem I have is that the images it captures at night (using IR illumination) are extremely blurry. Someone walking past the camera, for example, appears to be a big white blur. There is no way the image would be useful for identifying a burglar. Images captured in daylight don't seem to suffer from the same problem! Is there anything I can do within ZoneMinder to improve this? I have tried both 640x480 and 320x240 resolution.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Foscam FI8904W blurry images
I don't have any solution for you, but I have a FI8904W and I can't get it work. Maybe you can help me?
I have installed ZM 1.24.2 with apt (sudo apt-get).
I followed this tutorial :http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... fmpeg,_etc.) with no luck.
I tried to move zoneminder in its own Virtual Host to be sure cgi-bin was accessible, but I can't still have any picture.
Do I have to chmod the directory?
$ ls -l cgi-bin/
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 631000 2010-04-12 11:31 nph-zms
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 631000 2010-04-12 11:31 zms
I have a broken image. I don't see anything in logs.
I must have missed something.
Can you describe what you did to make it work ?
Specs:
FI8904W (working under VitaminD and its web UI).
Ubuntu 10.04 Server 64bit
ZM 1.24.2
Thank you very much in advance.

Re: Foscam FI8904W blurry images
The blurring issue is with the camera not Zoneminder. The reason the camera can work at night is the very long shutter speed combined with IR. The only way to fix the blurring is to add a lot of regular flood lights to make it bright enough for the camera to not enter IR mode and keep a fast shutter speed. Thats the deal with cheap IP cameras. I have cheap Chinese knock offs of the Foscam and they do the same thing. Cars are a blur and if your lucky you can make out a face. I have a porch light at my back door that keeps my camera from entering IR mode but the shutter speed is still pretty slow. The image is better than IR mode but not by much. My light gets brighter when it detects motion and when that happens the quality improves again.
So in summery you can get a better camera or add more visible light. Personally I'm OK with the my cameras.

Re: Foscam FI8904W blurry images
I don't think that is a camera problem, I have the same problem with FI8904 in zoneminder but with activewebcam for xp i have perfect recorded images (but now i want to change my system from xp to ubuntu). Anyone solved that issues?

Double check the settings for displayed image quality in options::images. Also using compression can degrade image quality.
