A newcomer's doubt

Hello!
I'm trying Zoneminder; some time ago I did a ZM probe setting up with an old Pentium III and one camera; now I'm trying seriously ZM with an (old too) 2.0 Ghz Pentium IV, 768 Mb of RAM memory and (actually) four 640x480 non colour PAL cameras, but I need they will be six or seven. The CCTV card are two Pico 2000 with four inputs each one.
I defined 8 zones (three for one camera, one for oher and 2 for each of the other ones) and set all them in "mocord" mode.
It looks it's too much work for this hardware; what do you think?; should I upgrade this hardware?
In this case, wich processor (and memory) would be good?
