Can't get Camera to Work

Post by jbillingsle01 »

Apologies if this has been asked before; I've googled and searched this forum and have stuck out so far (although I've been nudged farther along).

I'm running zoneminder 1.24.4 on Fedora Core 15. I'm using a Logitech v-ubk45 which works fine with Cheese.

When I pull up the camera by clicking on the Zone link, I get a black screen outlined with red. When I set the Function to Monitor or Record, then click on the device name the page doesn't ever load all the way. Just see the Device name with a broken link icon next to it.

When I tail /var/log/messages I get this:

I do have to admit that when adding the camera I'm not 100% sure what settings to use. I've done trial and error for a while with no success, but I'm not a A/V guy so I'm kind of lost on that front. zmu doesn't seem to provide very much info for me:

[root@suhme ~]# zmu -d /dev/video0 -V1 --query --verbose
Video Device: /dev/video0
[root@suhme ~]#

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Can't get Camera to Work

Issue seems to have been resolved :D

After more searching I found the Forum post titled "Logitech QuickCam Connect E2500 (089d) - Ubuntu Server 10.04" and followed their instructions to add:

Code: Select all

$ENV{LD_PRELOAD} = '/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so';
to /usr/bin/zmdc.pl

After a reload of zoneminder I am able to view my camera. It's hard to tell because it's so dark and crappy out in Michigan right now, but once I verify that it works good, i shall dance a happy jig!
