Hard Drive Light Never Goes Off - All Monitors Disabled

Recently Zoneminder (v 1.24.2) started accessing HD continually. I've set all monitors function to "None" and "Enabled" is unchecked, yet zoneminder still hammers the HD continuously. If I stop zoneminder, the HD activity light goes off. It looks like zoneminder has gotten corrupted but was wondering if an obscure setting might have caused this. I have the additional debugging parameter unchecked and extra debug level set to 0. I'm not sure what else to do. Any ideas?
