zoneminder distributed system

Has someone posted tips on creating a ZoneMinder configuration distributed across multiple systems?
I have some small fanless computers that are strong enough to run the zmc and zma components but not beefy enough to run the whole system. I have them set up to use a remote database server and save image files on an NFS mount.
I'd like to use a different system (not the database/file server) to run the web interface.
Right now, I have multiple video "collector" systems pointing to separate databases and I run the web interface on them too, even though they are really too slow to stream video while running zmc and zma.
Can I have multiple video "collector" systems pointing to the same database on the remote system ?
And, how can I run the web interface on a different system ? The whole thing seems to want to be on one box.
