Zoneminder makes hard disk busy all the time

Ever since I upgraded my ubuntu to 10.04, I have noticed that hard disk activity light is on all the time. I checked around and found that stopping zoneminder "fixes" this problem As soon as I start ZM, the problem comes back. This was not the case before the upgrade. How can I troubleshoot what is going wrong?

Which mode are you using?. If you have lots of events in modect or mocord, then the hard disk should be working always.

I am using MODECT on my monitors (16 in all). The thing is that before Ubuntu upgrade, the hard disk activity LED was not lit all the time. I have not changed anything in zoneminder before or after Ubuntu upgrade.
