Hi,

I am new to zoneminder. I have installed it and it is able to view video using jpeg streaming. However , if i change function
of the camera from "monitor" to "record". I can not view the video anymore. And it didn't created any mpeg file.

I don't know what is wrong with it. ffmpeg was installed. I have set ZM_OPT_MPEG to "ffmpeg" , ZM_PATH_FFMPEG to "/usr/bin/ffmpeg". Could some body give me advise on how to find out the error?

Thanks a lot!

It is normal when switching modes to the video to not to display. When a function of a camera changes the entire camera memory and capture information is dumped and restarted which could take some time. I've found it best to stop and start zoneminder after altering camera settings.

Check that ffmpeg is in the /usr/bin/ffmpeg directory, if not point it to the correct directory.

Hi Ben,

I think you need to give a bit more information, what is your ditro and version, which version of ZM are you using and when when you say you can't view the 'video' any more do you mean the live or recorded streams and if so, do you mean the JPEG or MPEG steams? What have you set it up to do?

In general no MPEG file is created unless you ask it to, they would ordinarily be created only when you click on 'Video' in an event view. If this isn't working check in zmvideo.log to see if any errors are being reported.

Phil,
