Large image sizes

I'm currently having problems with each image file being saved by a motion event, being overtly large in terms of hard-drive space.

I'm getting only 40kb - 50kb per image 'file-size' but I'm getting huge 'file-sizes on disk' around 330kb - 340kb; around 6 or 7 times the size of the file itself. Because I have the recording frames-per-second going at 3 frames a second, this adds up to over 1 megabyte of data per second per camera, which is unsustainable.


Is there anyway you can change this?
