I'm having difficulty getting ZoneMinder to behave well. I have a ProVideo PV150 from BlueCherry, its a 4 chip, 16 input card, using Video 0-3. I had it working well for several months until my hard drive needed to be replaced. When I resetup ZM with the same settings everything seemed well. I have 8 cameras using 2 on each channel. When I initially rebuilt ZM all the cameras were working as monitoring, but when I switched it to MoDetect 4 of them cut out (source turned red). These were Video2 and Video3 channel 0 and 1.

It turns out if I set the mode of Video2 Channel 1 to None, then Video2 Channel 0 starts working (source turns green). Same thing happens if I change Video3 Channel 1 to None.

Does this mean anything to anyone?

If I use "xawtv - hwscan" all 4 video devices look the same.

Any help would be appreciated. It was working before I had to rebuild the computer so I know it can, I just don't know if I'm forgetting something simple.

So I think I found my problem. After deleting and slowly readding video sources that were not working I was able to add all of them again. Turned on MoDetect without problem again. When setting up zones I thin kI might have had some bad zones. By bad zones I am refering to polygons that crossed themselves. When I moved a node to a location that made the polygon intersect itself, the polygon would disappear but the nodes would remain. If I save the zone with this "bad" polygon the source and all others on the same chip would turn red and stop working. I think thats why when I set one camera's function to "None" the other would turn back on.

So my conclusion is no hardware issue but a user issue. If when setting up a zone your polygon disappears, do not try to save the zone.
