Noob question: Are capture cards required with IP cameras

I'm looking at the possibility of using ZoneMinder with up to 4 IP cameras. Do I also need a capture card for recording video from motion detection events, or is that only required for analog cameras? When reading part of the FAQ on the wiki, it discussed ways to reduce system load when using IP cameras. My take on it was that the system has to do all of the decoding for IP cameras, so I'm assuming a capture card wouldn't be used in that situation. Just want to make sure if I need one or not. No sense in buying one if the IP cameras aren't going to use it.
Thanks!

No you will need a router. I have a TP Link wifi router. Just connected an IP camera and it's working. Well sort of. I think did work until I started adjusting settings. It's connected to my router with a network cable. I have 1 usb Web cam connected. I can't figure out how to connect more than one. Something to do with Shared Memory.
