Hi with the help of Phil
i was able to install the current version of zm on my RH9.

Next step was to connect a camera to my Bt848 card and get that thing working...
Testing the cam using xawtv works fine, my cam is connected at channel 31 on device video0.
I tried these settings in my zm installation, but after configuring the monitor i tried to get an image within the monitor-view but i don't get one. There stays the small rectangle in the upper left corner showing its red-cross for indicating that no image was found.

What am i doing wrong?

Here are some of my zmdc.log logs: It seems as if the zma isn't running well?

You seem to be missing a Perl module. Zoneminder relies on Perl modules for its operation.

Try installing all the needed modules first. You will know witch ones to install when you see in the log files lines like:
Can't locate Archive/Zip.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0

Now, "Arcive/Zip.pm" is a Perl module you need to get before Zoneminder runs properly.

If you are not familiar with handling Perl modules, try installing the exellent UNIX management package, Webmin. Here's the URL:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/contrib/noarch/ ... noarch.rpm
If you are connecting to the Internet by a phone line, get comfortable because its a 5-6Mb download. But, its worth the while.

Once you install webmin, point your browser to http://localhost:10000 and login as root. If you are accessing from another's computer browser, substitute localhost for the ip address of the machine. Once logged in, click on "Others" and then on "Perl modules". Follow the on-scrren prompts and you should have that pesky module installed in no time.

Good luck!

Hello Jose!

I tried your suggestions and i am now a bit luckier, but zm still don't work.

I installed webmin as you mentioned and after i needed to install the following perl modules:
Compress::Zlib,
Archive::Zip,
MIME::Entity,
Mail::Internet,
IO::Wrap.

If i now try to start zm the log shows the following: (i don't really understand the log-messages)

Is there anything wrong with my perl installation?
I didn't change anything while installing my RH9 and did a workstation installation.

Thanks if you could help me a bit more.

Hi Danny,

You have two issues here.

The first is a UTF problem, this is to do with perl 5.8.0 and I have added a FAQ entry describing the fix.

The second is a problem where your zmc process is crashing, this is much more important. If you check your /var/log/messages file you may see some lines with ERR in them, these are the important ones. If you can post those here we may get a bit further.

Cheers,

Phil,

Hello everybody.

I have still not fixed my problem and therefore my zoneminder-installation still isn't working. I can't interprete the error-messages in my last post above and don't know how to fix this.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

Danny
