Ok .. I am really new to Linux and Zoneminder. I am a Windows user and I'm pampered with those 1-click installations in the Win OS.

Here is what I have done:

1) In the Ubuntu Software Centre: I installed the Zoneminder

2) After installation I could not find any icon on the menu, but I've re-checked the Ubuntu Software Centre and confirmed that the software have been installed.

3) When I entered the URL
localhost slash zm

It returned a
Not Found
The requested URL /zm was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80
4) I tried to go to
localhost

And I saw that all was blank

5) I returned to that guide and start with the section "Building" under the Documentation Page

But I got this error
./configure: No such file or directory
6) Honestly .. I quit .. it's like trying to hit something when blindfolded!

Can anyone shed some light on how to get it to work since the only guide available was for 1.23 and Ubuntu have advanced at least 3 versions from 9.xx to 12.xx

PS: WTF?!?! Why did I get this "Your post looks too spamy for a new user, please remove off-site URLs." msg

Your going to have to do a little more work if all you did was just install from the software center.

As long as it setup your database and apache you can follow the guide here starting with "Add delay to allow MySQL to start before Zoneminder "
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... e_easy_way

You can skip cambozola, ssl, and ntp update if you dont need those.

Its your first post so the forum software is setup to not let first time posters use URLs. It helps keep the spam out. You'll be able to post URLs after you make a few more posts. Sucks but thats what we have to deal with because of spammers. :(
