I have installed Zoneminder 1.25 on Ubuntu 12.04 and set up my IP camera with a scourc of /videostream.cgi?user=XXX&pwd=XXX&resolution=32&rate=6 with 24bit color and 640X480 capture.
I've set shmall=167772160 and shmmax=335544320 but I still get a red source code on the console and a black screen on the feed.

I've been searching through the forum and find that this is not that uncommon and I've tried all of the suggestions I've found. Can anyone can point me in the right direction?

Have you tried setting the resolution on the camera and ZM to 320x240?

Thanks steveaggie, reducing the resolution does work but the resulting image is too blurred to be useful.

I've been trawling Google and found some advice on a US Foscam forum that seems to be working (about 12 hours now). This is to lower the contrast and brighness settings. The forum seem to be suggesting a fault with the camera but this workaround gets a good report. Here's hoping!

Where is this setting? I have a FI8905W and it works great for me. I could share my settings, if I know which ones are of interest to you.
