ZoneMinder not sending email

I downloaded the VM appliance from the download site courtesy of Michael Waldron.

I got everything working quite well, but can't get emails to work.
I've installed a postfix MTA on the host itself, and tested it.
(ie: telnet localhost 25, and manually creating an email. It works, and gets delivered to my address).

In the 'email' settings, I have the OPT_EMAIL checked, with values in the boxes below.
I also have the OPT_MESSAGE checked, with it's values filled in as well.

But when ZoneMinder alarms, I don't even see it attempt to hit port 25 of the mailserver.
I don't see anything in /tmp/zm

Where else can I look, or what can I try?

Any help would be great.

I just tried this again with my new CentOS compiled version, and same thing.
When an alarm occurs, it never makes a tcp/25 connection at all to the MTA.

Does anyone have email notifications enabled?
If so, was there something special required?
