event view, premature stop due to missing frame

Post by JRo »

Hi there,
this is a short overview of my system:
- ZoneMinder-MP 1.25.0-48.1 from Packman, build for openSuse 12.3 on Aug. 11, 2013
- openSuse 12.3
- Intel server board with currently 4 GB RAM
- 8-channel Camesecure CCTV Systems BT878 DVR PCI card
- 3 RGB cameras attached to the video capture board
- shared memory increased to 3 GB
- Browser: Firefox

My Problem

Sometimes event views stop after a few seconds, even though the captured event was much longer, according to the event list. Checking event directories I found that event view stops, if a frame in the according event directory is missing (e.g. directory list: 00001-capture, ..., 00029-capture, 00030.capture, 00032.capture, ..., 00052.capture) n.b. frame 31 is missing.

zma_m5.log and zmaf.log show:
zma_m5[2561].ERR-zm-event.cpp/322 [Can't write frame: Broken pipe]
zmf[diff. pid's].ERR-zmf.cpp/243 [Incomplete read of frame image data, 16024 bytes only]

Logs of zma_m1 and zma_m4 show the same errors. Error frequency is highest for zm_m5.
The incomplete frame size of exactly 16024 bytes for each error puzzles me.

The capture rate is 5 fps for each camera. CPU load is only 2% per CPU in idle state without any monitor feed, and 5 ... 8% with all 3 monitor feeds locally on screen.

After reducing the capture rate in alarm state to 3fps the errors remain unchanged. The same errors occur while viewing remotely with only zm console open on the video capture system. In another test the system will run without browser on the video capture system.

Please advise where I should start to get more information about these errors?

UPDATE
-------------
For more than 3 days zm is running without continous browser access. Only occasionally I check zm system health by remote access using Firefox. Every time the system was working fine, and the count of "broken pipe" errors in zm_event was much lower. Still some picture numbers (see above) are missing.

Next Step
--------------
On another PC I will set up a zm 1.26 system, compiled from source. If there is sufficient spare time I will try another Linux system.
