Security Light detection

Post by Stuntman »

I have a security light that turns on and off frequently in my yard. Zoneminder detects both the turning on and the turning off of that light as a motion detect. Would be great to be able to calibrate ZM so that such events, in and of themselves, are not enough to trigger an alarm. Turning "on" plus further movement would be great.. turning "off" shouldn't trigger at all..

It isn't a huge problem, but it does cause a LOT of captures that don't need to be captured.

Have you selected a zone to do not include the area where the lights are on?

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

Hello PacoLM,

Youll have to select te zone(s) that are effected by these ligths!!

Make sure to look into the statics on events caused by these ligths to adjust your settings.
(duration / frames etc)

Good luck, Christo

Hi Christo,

I was trying to give an answer to the original poster, not asking another question...

Hello PacoLM,

I know but ZoneMinder is capable to handle these events when this occurs within active zones.

So, your answer suggested a solution that might not always be suitable!!

Kind regard, Christo

Again, having defined a exclusive zone for the area that covers the light should fix the problem, as the event is NOT going to be triggered when the image changes in the light alarm area...
If I understood it correctly, the user wants to avoid events triggered by the lights, isn't it?
