Red screen for cameras

Post by zuser »

Running zm 1,26 on CentOS 6,5 server and have 1 Logitech webcam and 1 Foscam ip camera attached.
Both cameras work fine on the system as they can be streamed with fire fox, vlc, cheese , etc.
I can log into the zm console and both cameras look ok but when selected for viewing, both show only a red screen with monitor name, date and time in upper left hand corner of the viewing area.
Both are set for 640 x 480 resolution.
I think I must be very close to having this working but don't know where to start on this issue.

Suggestions please or what more do you need to know?

What are you seeing in the logs? Unless you have made some tweaks /var/log/syslog should have some info that can help. I would do a 'tail -f /var/log/syslog | grep zm' and restart zoneminder, that should get you going in the right direction.

What are your settings under the monitors 'source' settings? Mine look like this for a Foscam:

Make sure that the monitor is not set to 'None' and that the 'Enabled' box is checked...kind of obvious but I know that sometime when I am troubleshooting its easy to assume the basics are correct ;)

Latest version as of a month or two ago but it has worked with every version I have used since the cameras release.

I checked my current firmware and Web UI version on the 8918W, its 11.37.2.55 for firmware and 2.4.10.9 for the web UI, although like I said before, I have not had a firmware version that didnt work well. The one issue I see often with these cams is ones being used via WiFi, they are just not stable, mine runs ethernet and I have no issues with it. If you are using WiFi try running it on ethernet and see if that solves your issue. If nothing else its a good diagnostic step, removes a potential problem area that will simplify troubleshooting. Good luck.

for me all are by ethernet, but anyway

with my configuration it's ok (red screen is out) and your configuration too.

it's strange but it's working.
