Avoiding false alarms on ilumination changes at night

Post by mabene »

I've got an outdoor camera looking into a court with some some motion controlled lights.

At night, these lights are frequentliy triggered by cats. Configuring motion detection to not trigger on cat-sized blobs is easy, but I can't get rid of the false alarms caused by the lighting changes.

The moment the light actually comes on or goes off isn't the problem, that can be avoided either by setting max alarm pixels or by using a preclusive zone right over the bulb, but: the sudden lighting change triggers an adjustment of auto exposure resulting in a gradual change of brightness for ca. 1.5 seconds after light comes on or goes of.
near the end of that adjustment I get radnomly sized alert blobs all over the place.

Is there any way of blocking alarms for, say, 2 seconds after a preclusive zone triggers?
