Newbie with JVC VN-V26u Needs help configuring (SOLVED)

Post by kkrofft »

I have ZM running on a Dell Poweredge 2950 server set up with Centos. Primarily it is a home file server so it is on all the time which makes it ideal for camera monitoring. I have ZoneMinder installed and running and can access the configs via the web interface. The camera is an IP cam (JVC VN-V26U) .I can access this camera with a demo version of BlueIris fine on a win 7 box so I am fairly certain it can work with ZM.

When I start the monitor, the window opens but no video appears. The logs show:
'zmc -m 2' exited abnormally, exit status 255

socket_sendto( /var/lib/zoneminder/sock/zms-109717s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory

getStreamCmdResponse stream error: socket_sendto( /var/lib/zoneminder/sock/zms-109717s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory - checkStreamForErrors()

The monitor source tab is set up as:
HTTP
Simple
user:pass@192.168.1.80
80
/api/video?encode=mpeg4 (string found is successful setting in BlueIris)
24 bit color
640
480
Normal
Disabled

I have spent most of the day trying to get this to work and searching the forum archives and web in general.
Please suggest steps I can take to sort this out.

Thank You!

So after a long wild goose chase which included updating to 1.27 from source... I found out that it was a firewall setting.
What made it so hard was that in all the searching and reading of other folks posting the same errors, it looked like it was an Apache config issue. On my CentOs install, I already had Apache
2.2.15 installed but it was either part of the distro or added by Dell's servermanager software.

It is not installed in the usual directories making it hard to follow suggestions in other folks posts.
At the moment, it does not appear that I have an active zoneminder.conf file and yet the system is displaying properly and generating motion events that can be viewed.
The only "zmconf" file I see is labeled zoneminder.conf.rpmsave which I assume is a relic from uninstalling the ZM 1.26 rpm.
