No /dev/video0, Kodicom, BT878, Unbuntu Upgrade to 14.04

Post by AnotherBrian »

I upgraded a running zoneminder system from Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04.
The system has an 8 port kodicom 8800 clone card installed.
The /etc/modules.d/bttv.conf file was unchanged by the upgrade.
The upgrade went fine but in the new system there are no video devices (i.e., /dev/video0, /dev/video1, ...).
The kernel log mentions the following in relation to bttv:

Code: Select all

bttv: driver version 0.9.19 loaded
bttv: using 16 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
bttv: Bt8xx card found (0)
bttv: 0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:04:08.0, irq: 20, latency: 64, mmio: 0xfdfff000
bttv: 0: using: IVC-200 [card=102,insmod option]
bt878 #0 [sw]: bus seems to be busy (scl=0, sda=0)
bttv: 0: tuner absent
bttv: 0: the autoload option is obsolete
bttv: 0: use option msp3400, tda7432 or tvaudio to override which audio module should be used
bttv: probe of 0000:04:08.0 failed with error -34
The above lines repeat several times.

Here is the content of the /dev/modules.d/bttv.conf file:

Code: Select all

options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1
options bttv gbuffers=16 card=102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102 radio=0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0 tuner=4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4 chroma_agc=1 combfilter=2 full_luma_range=1 coring=1 autoload=0
Suggestions?

Okee Doke got it to work!

Just drop (delete) the text

bit_test=1

from bttv.conf.

That means the official zoneminder recommended configuration for kodicom shown here is wrong (or at least wrong for my kodicom clone):
