Ubuntu server upgrade fron 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS no video

Post by Dugger »

I upgraded my headless Ubuntu server 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS (64bit). Zoneminder 1.25 was running fine on 12.04. It would seem that Zoneminder upgraded to 1.26 at the same time. Zoneminder still starts in a browser but no video stored or live will play. I suspect it may be because ffmpeg is not installed but 14.04 does not support ffmpeg. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks Doug.

Check to be sure CGI in Apache is enabled. Look through here for clues:

Hi thanks for your reply. CGI is enabled in apache2 and I already worked through the link. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks again Doug.

I have had to purge zoneminder from my server after running for several years. I could not resolve this problem and my server was crashing when seemingly when receiving mutiple alarms. I need the server to be up all the time so could not afford the crashes. I will try again when Ubuntu 14.10 comes out for now the cameras will just be a deterent.
Thanks,
Doug

Doug, Please try again with a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04. I have a Dell quad core running 14.04 and ZM 1.26.5 with 15 cameras. In fact I had to replace the hard drive yesterday. I was at Best Buy when it opened at 1000, 10 minute drive to the warehouse, swapped out the drive, installed everything afresh, configured all 15 cameras and I was on the road to my next client by 1145! Had to attach a keyboard and monitor to install Ubuntu server but everything else was installed/configured from my laptop. My server runs headless. Give the 14.04 easy way how to a try. Just remember what settings you had for your cameras. I've taken screen shots of the settings but Firefox remembers most of the settings for me!
