stream from another computer

I've been trying to figure out how to stream a camera from one computer to the "main" computer.

My setup:

I've got cameras in several conference rooms so I can monitor activity and also provide security.

I know an IP/network camera would be ideal, but our budget is tight right now so I'm making due with what I have. I have several old small computers and USB web cameras.

2 of the conference rooms I already have set up to stream using RTSP to a Darwin Streaming Server, but I'm hoping there is a better solution for the 3rd conference room as I would like to feed it into the ZM for security monitoring.

I have a small PC and a logitech webcam. I'm familiar with linux, Mac and Windows.

Suppose the easiest solution would be to have a piece of software that turns the PC/webcam combo into a IP camera, but I've not found anything that does that, or maybe I just can't figure out how to do it.

I've never done what you are looking to do, but I do know that ffmpeg, vlc, mjpegstreamer, and even zoneminder itself has the capability to stream a local camera to a server running zoneminder.

Thanks, I'm just trying to figure it out. Most of the documentation for any of those focuses on setting up and collecting the video feeds. Actually feeding out is something I'm missing.

Trying to figure out how I can get a feed from a Quicktime Streaming server as well. The settings all seem to be there and it looks like zone minder likes it, but I don't receive any video. I know the video works as I can view the video in quicktime or VLC on another computer.

I'm guessing that issue is with the video compressor, I currently have it set to H.264, but I've tried several others to no avail.
