Motion Detection in Shade

I'm using a Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I in an area that gets shade in the afternoon. It is not dark enough to switch to IR mode and the contrast in the motion scene is obviously reduced. It rarely detects motion when I know that there has been activity. It does great in non-shade conditions. I am using an active zone that uses the Preset "Best, High Sensitivity". Any suggestions on how to configure this camera differently to more accurately detect motion in these conditions?

I have the 2CD2332, does your model have WDR settings under "Backlight Settings"
If so, turn that on and adjust the dynamic range so your shadowed areas are brighter
