i am a zm newbee from germany so please excuse my bad english but i hope you would understand my problem.
My System: Debian Linux 8.1
Zoneminder v1.28.1 correctly installed with this tutorial
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... e_Easy_Way
The Problem my noname China IP Cams have 3 different RTSP Streams each with a different resolution for the test without log & pass authentication.
Fixes IPs
Stream1 192.168.178.20/11
Stream2 192.168.178.20/12
Stream3 192.168.178.20/13
Port: 554
With my Desktop PC (Ubuntu) i havent any problems to watch the streams from the CAM over VLC
Open Media -> Network ->
rtsp://192.168.178.20/11/
or
rtsp://192.168.178.20/11/:554
works fine with VLC.
But Zoneminder i havent any picture.
Add Monitor ->
Tab General -> Source Type -> Libvic
Tab Source -> rtsp://192.168.178.20/11/:554
Remote Method -> RTP/RTSP
does not working why ?

Welcome to the ZoneMinder forum.
You need to tell us what "not working" means exactly.
To find out, check your zoneminder log and post any errors you see.
Note that the following three Source Types are all meant to be interchangeable: remote (rtsp), libvlc, and ffmpeg.
Try using ffmpeg or remote rtsp if libvlc does not work.

thanks for the fast reply
Now i think the problem is not the cheap chinese cam its ZoneMinder.
1. i could find any zm log file where is it have looked to the directories
/tm/zm <---empty
/var/log/zm/ <--empty
2. have made some test have 2 webcams
one logitec c910 and one microsoft Hd-5000 both connected directly to the usb ports of the zm(Debian) machine.
both cams dont working as local monitor with zm.
the System list the devices only with the command v4l2-ctr --list-devices
i will get an error if i try the command zmu -d /dev/video0 -q -v
Error, failed to enumerate standard 0: Success
3. have tried to make a VLC RTSP video stream (local video File) from my desktop pc directly to the zm monitor -> nothing
The same stream worked on my laptop opened with vlc.
The problem must be the the new ZM System i have installed.

When properly configured, zoneminder should work with most any camera.
However, until you show us the contents of your zoneminder log file, its anyone's guess what the problem may be.

try switching to rtp/unicast instead of rtp/rtsp, and rtsp://admin:admin@192.178.20.88:554/11 as the source, using libvlc.
change admin:admin for whatever your credentials are (or lack thereof)

On Debian, ZM log messages are stored by default in /var/log/syslog.
If you want to separate zm messages from the other log entries in syslog, run:
#cat /var/log/syslog | grep zm > /var/log/zmlog
In /var/log/zmlog you will have the zoneminder logs.

The simplest way would be to just click "Log" right from the web console.

I have a similar camera and it works in ffmpeg and remote modes:
General tab/Source Type: Ffmpeg
Source tab/Source Path: rtsp://192.168.1.96/11?tcp
Source tab/Remote Method: RTP/Unicast
OR
General tab/Source Type: Remote
Source tab/Remote Protocol: RTSP
Source tab/Remote Method: RTP/Unicast
Source tab/Remote Host Name: 192.168.1.96
Source tab/Remote Host Port: 554
Source tab/Remote Host Path: /11
In ffmpeg mode I often get "smudged" images while in remote mode it disconnects after a minute or two.
