I am a NOOB trying to use the Midori browser on my RPI2, that is running Fedora21 and Zoneminder 1.28.1. I cannot view any of the cams. The console comes up but when I select a cam to monitor Midori crashes. I can view all the cams from my windows machine, but not directly on the PI2. I wanted to connect a 24" HDMI monitor to the PI and use it as a security monitor.

You've provided very little information to determine a specific cause, but my guess is you are likely hitting the limits of the hardware.

How many cameras do you have?
What resolution?
What frame rate?
What is the cpu load of the rasp pi2 before attempting to open a live stream and then during?
How much free memory do you have?

Try Firefox instead of Midori.

The Raspberry Pi 2 has about enough processing power to record 1 IP camera at a low frame rate, and then view that camera from a different PC altogether.

Do you have a second Rasp Pi lying around you can use as a web client?

Midori can't handle even one cam.
I installed firefox and it can show all the cams in montage, but as I bring up one at a time side by side the browser crashes. Not enough HP to do what I need to be able to monitor all six at one time. Montage worn' display any side by side. The are all stung out, one above the other in a single vertical column.

I do have another PI I could use as a client. I'll try that

I may also try to redo this on an ODROID. I would like to have one device do it all for me if possible.

More info:

I used my ODROID U3 as a web client and was able to get all 6 cams to appear in montage. However, the pictures don't stream. They tend to refresh occasionally. I took some snapshots of the system monitor on each system.

You need to start telling us what your log files show, and not just a couple lines.

Again, make sure you are using Firefox. In addition to insufficient hardware resources, using an incompatible browser will cause this symptom.

I am using firefox. I tried to export the log but it fails with a 500 error. I also do not find a log file on the system. DO I need to do something special to get a log file created?

See how none of these are even close to 30fps? That means your rasp pi can't keep up. Drop the frame on all your cameras to 5 or less.

If you still get these messages after reducing the frame rate, then try a wired connection if you aren't already.

This means your camera is sending images that do not conform to the jpeg standard. This is not always fatal. If you are getting an image, you can ignore these. If it is fatal then change the remote Method from Simple -> Regex. See if that helps.

I am running everything hard wired.

I cut the FPS to 5 on all cams. and changed to Regex. It seems to help, but the live motion is not adequate to monitor in realtime. Some cams lag a minute or two behind others. I am pretty sure the PI2 is not powerful enough to run zoneminder with 6 cams. I'm wondering if an OROID with 2gb ram would be better.
Any thought?

I would hate to go through the work to find out it is no better.
