Update issues on centos 7

After updating from 1.28.1 to 1.29.0 I had to patch zmupdate to quote the passwords used for db users, then grant an index right to the zm user.
After this, the script was able to complete and restarting was successful however I could not render images in the web console. Looking through this forum on getCmdResponse stream error and socket_sendto a suggestion was old processes and a reboot to fix but I didn't have old processes hanging around but I rebooted anyway which did not help. None of the /var/lib/zoneminder/sock/zms-xxxx.sock files exist, just one /var/lib/zoneminder/sock/zmdc.sock file exists.
Selinux is in permissive mode, anyone know what I may have missed?
Thanks.
