Hello,

What is the purpose of the hidden symbolic links that point to specific events' image folders?
For example /var/www/zm/events/1/<year>/<month>/<day>/.52059 -> 08/09/08

Within Zoneminder, is there a way to disable creating these symbolic links?

I am asking because Dropbox "converts" symbolic links to actual directories. This causes all the events' images folders to be duplicated resulting in double the size of the events directory and double the uploading time.

Isn't it just a handy way to map the "event number" to the actual time-date'd directory with the events in? Without having to dig in the database every time? I don't know how many parts of ZM use it. Similar to the symlinks for the cameras "by name" linking to "by number" at the top level (although those are more visible, not starting with a . )
