Hi

I am running ZM 1.29.0 running on ubuntu 14.04. I am trying to set up my first camera which is a Foscam C1. (firmware fully updated)
I have tried the settings in this separate thread (viewtopic.php?t=23534) but they do not work. By not working i mean the live view is not showing anything except timestamp and blue screen.

For sure i can use VLC to access the feed with the following URL
rtsp://user:pass@192.168.0.111:554/videoMain

In ZM i am using these settings:
In general tab:
Source Type: ffmpeg
Function: monitor
Analysis FPS: 25
Maximum FPS: not set

In source tab:
Source Path: user:pass@192.168.0.111:554/videoMain
Remote Method: RTP/RTSP
Targer Colorspace: 32 bit colour
Capture Width: 1280
Capture Height: 680 (Also tried 720)

After i did some googling, i found this command sudo ln -s /usr/lib/zoneminder/cgi-bin/nph-zms /usr/lib/cgi-bin/
After running it, the experience changed. Now i have a blue screen with a timestamp

Resolution! Try 640x320

try sticking an rtsp:// at the beginning of the path

Your error log shows socket errors. In my case this was caused by bad webserver config.

I had socket errors too. After long investigation I found this out ...

Apache2 on Ubuntu 14.04 or later:
- disable all sites (list of sites by executing command line: "sudo ls /etc/apache2/sites-enabled -al")
- enable zoneminder.conf
- restart of reload Apache

Worked form me as long as I followed the regular installation instructions!

Even provides the solution for a similar problem when trying a clean install of Zoneminder on Docker on top op Ubuntu Host.

I dont know which knob i turned but i can now capture at 1280 x 720.

I have the same issue as zm_n00b, and i don't understand very well what you mean.
I installed Zone Minder on ESXI 5.5 and a Debian. I made all what is written on this wiki:
