Anyone that can help me, Zoneminder events are consuming more storage capacity. Anyone has a calculator for the storage using Zoneminder application. Approximately 30 cameras to be installed.
Thanks and regards,
Philip
Storage
Re: Storage
Calculate storage? Kind of a loose ended thing... depends on camera type, image size, frame rate, number if cameras, ZM Function, and how long you want to keep events. I use 17 cameras at 320x240 resolution at less than 5 FPS, six on mocord the rest on modect and I store 30 days of events on a 1 TB drive. If you feel that you may need to add storage set your system up with LVM so you can add a drive or two on the fly.

Re: Storage
The closest thing you can get to a storage calculator is to use one provided by a manufacturer of cameras or recording software. Axis has one.
In the calculator, set all cameras to mjpeg (even if the cameras are really h264). Then match the quantity, resolution, and frame rate to the cameras you have.
This calculation will still not be accurate because zoneminder records to jpg's rather than mjpeg, but it should be close enough for conversation.
The only other way to do it is by hand. How good at math are you?
Someone with time on their hands could write a spreadsheet which calculated storage.

Also take a look here https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Estimating_ ... _recording
how accurate it will be depends on the data you enter. In my case, it seems reasonably reliable.

Re: Storage
Look at that. Somebody already wrote a spreadsheet. Cool.
