ever since "yum update" unexpectedly upgraded my zoneminder from 1.28.1 to 1.29.0 (running on CentOS 6.
, timestamps on playback are hit-and-miss... mostly miss.
timestamps on live monitor view is solid... always there, but... on playback, sometimes they will be there, and sometimes not. mostly not. during playback, you'll see the timestamp flicker on/off. but... like i said... mostly off.
i've tried removing timestamps, and adding them back... changing the format... changing when timestamps are added (in options)... no change.
anything to look for?
thanks!

and... my main subject title says this happened when yum upgraded me from 1.28.0 to 1.29.0, but... actually... it was 1.28.1 when yum upgraded me to 1.29.0

ok... i have found a new piece of information.
i THOUGHT i had tried turning on TIMESTAMP_ON_CAPTURE as well as off, and that it didn't make a difference. but... evidently i didn't.
so... this timestamp disappearing and coming back (flickering on and off) during event playback is only prevalent when TIMESTAMP_ON_CAPTURE is off (unchecked). if TIMESTAMP_ON_CAPTURE is on (checked), this issue doesn't exist.
and... this only started when --yum update-- automatically upgraded me from 1.28.1 to 1.29.0. i really liked keeping TIMESTAMP_ON_CAPTURE off because it kept the timestamp readable, no matter what scaling was used.

so... basically... ever since 1.29.0, with TIMESTAMP_ON_CAPTURE off (applying timestamp when saving/viewing on web, so it keeps scaling for better viewing of timestamps), the timestamp only shows up, maybe 1% of the time... it flickers on and back off, occasionally.

This is a known issue. Trouble is, it doesn't happen on every machine.
Fixing this is not on anyone's radar at the moment. We accept pull requests from anyone willing to spent their time to fix it.

Good news.
I was finally able to track this one down and fix it:
https://github.com/ZoneMinder/ZoneMinder/pull/1851
What a difference one "!" makes.
This fix will appear in the next release, 1.30.3.
