alert on sick camera

Post by alabamatoy »

I have one camera that is behaving erratically, I think its either a firmware issue (Oh how I hate updating firmware on these things) or else its got a hardware problem. When I open montage, for this one camera I sometimes get just blank or else a blue background. Question - how can I get ZM to tell me when this camera seems to be misbehaving? I understand the process of setting up SMTP etc, I just dont see how to set an alert for a camera that's stopped providing data.

From the diagram that is probably current one may conclude that the place to look for it would be either:
1. zmdc.pl
2. zmwatch.pl
3. zmtrigger.pl

Those three scripts have direct access to capture process in zoneminder.
It would be nice if someone would give us a command line example how to selectively ping the cameras and manupulate them.
