Newbie Without MJPEG?

Hi all,
Am a Newbie to Linux and therefore also Zoneminder.
Am using Mint recently upgraded from 17 to 18
Also, using ZM 1.29
I have 12 Hikvision cameras, ten 2332's and recently two 3335's
All cameras work flawlessly under Win7 and as the software BlueIris.
Here is my dilemma:
installed ZM and have no problem bringing up the HTML console.
Source type ffmpeg, min empty FPS and max empty FPS
Source Path : rtsp://user:password@192.0.2.1//Streaming/Channels/1
Capture Width (pixels) : 1920 Capture Height (pixels): 1080
When saved, and when trying to view the camera, I do get a viewing screen with a tiny little icon in the top Left corner - I usually get that in Windows when a codec isn't installed/available.
Further, I get the same window when trying to run the camera under VLC.
I would appreciate any help given!
