Easy way to "scroll" through several hours of video?

Hi everybody,
I just installed Zoneminder 1.29.0 on top of a Ubuntu Server 14.04.4. My first monitor works fine with an Instar IN-7011HD.
So now I try to understand the concepts of Zoneminder and would like to ask if the following wishes can come true:
- We like to record 24/7 with about 25 cams. This recordings we like to rotate considering the size of storage we will buy.
- We like to have a simple research function so we can take the recordings of a certain cam and "scroll" through some hours in the past.
Is that possible? And if yes, how?
Thanks a lot and many greets
Stephan

The ZoneMinder "Montage Review" view is probably a good place to start. Also see the Timeline view.

Hi asker,
thanks for your fast reply!
-> Montage Review
I tried to find a starting point but failed.
Could you give me a hint how I can install/test/whatever this feature?
-> Timeline view
That looks good! I will do some tests and see whether this is what meet our needs.
Greets

Ah, I think Montage Review is in 1.30 which is in Release Candidate state now.
If you want to give it a quick try, simply copy this file
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ZoneM ... review.php
to your web/skins/class/views directory and then go to server/zm/index.php?view=montagereview to see how it looks. I _think_ that is all that is needed (may be wrong)

Disclaimer: I'm new to ZM and learning it myself, so there may be a better way. But try this;
Click on the total "events" number, the sum of events for all cameras. When that pops up, click on the "timeline" link on the top. You'll get a timeline with a horizontal bar for each camera, with spikes on top for motion events. As you scroll your mouse across the timeline for each camera, the image on top is updated and shows the frames from the motion events. Click at that point in the timeline to play, or click on the spike to zoom-in on the timeline. It's really slick, whoever came up with that deserves a cookie. I only have a couple of cameras on zomeminder at the moment so I'm not sure what this looks like with 25 cameras, but it's easy to try.
Also when you play events for a camera, the FF and RW functions are fantastic for watching the frames in high speed.

Hi you,
thanks a lot for your answers!
-> Timeline view
This looks really good and matches most of our needs! Now I have to do further research about (motion) events and how look at them.
-> Montage Review
When I configured a second monitor, the links "Zyklus / Montage" appeared!
This seems to be a nice overview for the live pictures.
Many greets
