Hello, I just installed ZM on Centos 7. I did everything on the "read me" file. My question is what is the url of the web page? I get the apache screen.

Thank you for your reply. This is what I get""This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect." It's like the db isn't accessible.

Also, I'm managing this from another workstation. So wouldn't localhost bring me to my ip?

I'm a noob. I forgot about the firewall. They may want to add that to their documentation for others. Thanks, man.

Yes, just like Windows (dare I say it), Redhat distros ship with the firewall turned on.
You have to poke a hole in the firewall for any server function to work when attempting to access from a remote client.

Back again. Having unsuccessfully tried to get Zoneminder working in a number of combinations (14.04 with 1.29 and 1.30) I finally settled on Ubuntu 16.04 with Zoneminder 1.30. The logic behind my decision was the “newest being most idiot proof”. This hasn’t proven to be quite true. My Ubuntu installs have been seamless with no issue however zoneminder has not been so good. I have installed Zoneminder as per the official documentation on the zoneminder site

All went as per the document until step 7 when the console threw back the messages below:

Having completed process as per the documentation (with the exception of the blue text above) I am unable to open either link from step 11. Both links result in “Server not found” error page.

I have carried out the steps in blue as per the wiki

but again I get the same error page when I try to open a zoneminder console.

Opening a page with 127.0.0.1 returns the Apache 2 Ubuntu default page confirming (as per the text in the page) that the server is working properly.
Opening a page with 127.0.0.1/zm/ or localhost/zm/ returns a page with the following text on a white background

ZoneMinder is not installed properly: php's date.timezone is not set to a valid timezone

however the following output is taken directly from the console



[Date]
; Defines the default timezone used by the date functions
; http://php.net/date.timezone
;date.timezone = Europe/Dublin

I have carried out all of the above (including a full reinstall of 16.04) three times just in case, but all to no avail. I am still unable to open a zoneminder console or verify the version of zoneminder installed. Any and all help very much appreciated.

Remove the ; in front of date.timezone.

Many thanks for the help. I had to do a restart but I am now happily looking at a zoneminder console. Its always the obvious isn't it!

OK, I have added "Make sure to remove the ; from the front of date.timezone" to the WIKI install procedures for Ubuntu...

Now we can hope people read it!
