Hope there's someone who can help.

I'm suffering both the symptoms [no live stream, sockets] described here: http://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/lat ... -streaming

I'm running 16.04 LTS, and have just freshly installed both Ubuntu and ZM 1.3. To install ZM I used this guide: http://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/lat ... untu-16-04

The camera I am using is a FosCam FI8905W, like this fellow: https://www.linux.com/learn/how-operate ... nux-part-1

Just one camera.

I have hit upon a config that allows the snapshots from Events to be played, but no video. Have read similar forum posts, have tried the auth thing, no dice.

I've been able to configure it in VLC using both the videostream.asf and videostream.cgi settings, but nada in ZM.

I've followed the above advice on ZM_PATH etc. cgi is enabled, and have corrected both the config file, and the path via web console.

Been trying to get this working for about 6 hours now! Anyone?

Set Reference Image Blend %ge and AlmRefImageBlendPct to the same value. 6.25 works well

Thanks - will wade through those 'other' instructions when I get home. I'd assumed they were the same ....

You might find it odd, but I did use Google, and found that wiki page (as well as the other I linked to). I think I tried all those settings with no success. I found other pages (again using Google - gee, it's great isn't it?), which is how I knew to test it with VLC. Hence I can make it work in VLC, but I can't replicate in ZM. That's frustrating, because there's seemingly no good way you can work out why it doesn't work other than trial and error.

Perhaps I didn't try the last entry on the wiki: "Video Stream Url and Parameters http://<IP-CAM>/videostream.cgi?user=A&pwd=B&resolution=C&rate=D", so I'll also give that a go.

When you see "Capturing at x.xx" in your logs, that means the backend is working and your camera has been programmed correctly.
This also means the problem is with the frontend, and that means you've got an Apache configuration problem. That almost always means, especially with *buntu users, your PATH_ZMS is not set correctly per the easy-way documentation. Yes, I know you said you already checked that (many people say that), but that really is where the problem lies. Delete the PATH_ZMS and type it in again, making sure you don't add any trailing spaces.
