ONVIF support

Hi all, is there any news about onvif support?
I found only this
old topic of 2013 about it.
Following link i see that
ONVIF support was officially merged in
#479 as an optional feature.
of August 2015.
It ends with a list of todo.
So what's the actual state of onvif support?

It generally detects most cameras.
Could be used for a lot more if someone cared to develop it.
