Foscam FI9803P V3 - log says capturing at 1000 fps

Having trouble setting up a Foscam FI9803P V3. Can't get anything but a blue screen no matter what the settings. Tried connecting to a camera I know works on another system and no problem. I look in the log and see it filling up with entries that say it's capturing at 1000 FPS. Every 15 entries or so it says unable to open the rtsp connection, and connection reset by peer.

Ignore that it says it is capturing at 1000FPS. A blue screen means the connection parameters are wrong. Most commonly, the resolution, but in your case it may be the path, or authentication that is bad.

What path are you using? Have you tried putting the password before the IP address e.g. username:password@<ipaddress>? Foscam has paths for cameras on their forum. Look there and compare it to what path you are using now. Also review the user manual for the camera, ispyconnect's website, and our wiki.

I tried all those. Foscam said they have a special RTSP port for that camera - which I tried - no luck. In all permutations the logs always say capturing at 1000 fps - and the hard drive works continuously. Might return this camera.

Try an ONVIF probe to get the settings. Several apps out there for Android and Windows. Also use VLC the program, to connect.

ONVIF fails - says not supported. If I change the port to 554 - the port the app says to use for RSTP the error changes from connection reset by peer to Operation now in progress. Still get blue screen. Which VLC program you recommend?

I tried VLC - it tries to connect - then asks for user name and password - but never accepts ones I know are correct.
