preview/recording stops

Foscam stops recording, only fix is to reboot the server.

running v1.30.2

Every so often I see, what I think might be a timeout happening? The video in the web UI just never loads on a few cameras. When I check the log, I see the following error. It seems like the only way to get it back is to reboot the server or restart the zm service.
Running ubuntu and loads are pretty low.

I had a problem with 1.30.1 or 1.30.2 that my Foscam clone (HOOTOO) would drop out occasionally with the "cause" then being "Signal"...the problem was the zmc process would remain and ZM would reaquire the camera and create a new process....this would happen over a period of time until the /dev/shm would go to 100% and zoneminder would need a restart. This was fixed and does not happen with 1.30.4. I am not at all sure if this is anything near what you are seeing...but I do see these errors you describe experimenting with 1.31.* and have not tracked down the true cause...which could be the "experimenting" part.

please include some more information as bbunge has pointed out.

Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
Foscam FI9800P

I'd love to upgrade to 1.30.4 but when I do then zmninja breaks. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting but end up reverting to a snapshot prior to the install, when the API fails.

Sorry to 1.31.4... maybe my answer here is to upgrade to 1.30.4

I guess my problem is now I don't know how to upgrade manually, the iconnor ppa upgrades me to 1.31.x

you need to change to the "Stable" branch on the iconner PPA here : https://launchpad.net/~iconnor/+archive ... zoneminder

add this to your repos and you will be able to install 1.30.4...... uninstall the 1.31.* first.

Upgrade went okay once I fixed the repos. Noticed the camera did the black screen once today. I almost wonder if its a connection issue. It is a wireless camera, although when I launch the web interface of the cam, everything seems to work.

You did not say what install instructions you used. Some work and some don't work so well...

As far as the initial deployment? I've been running virtualized ZM on ubuntu since May 2015.
